Restaurants & Institutions came out with 20 food related predictions for the coming year, among them "drugstore-counter desserts", which are described as "retro desserts" and include shakes and floats.My only issue is with the appearance of both coal oven pizza and low carbon footprint dining. How does that work?
Epicurious came out with their own trend list, and according to them mini cupcakes are on their way out, while whoopie pies are so very in.
Personally, I'm not a fan of whoopie pies. Some of the commenters also seem to prefer cupcakes.

Update: Nation's Restaurant News comes out with yet another 2010 food prediction list! This one says that mini & bite size desserts are IN. Take that whoopie pies!
